I am an artist passionate of the art of recycling. I collect all that I think is useful, from old wood, cans, lids, and many other reusable objects. Then, I try to create an image in my mind to transform into art. My aim is to make the future generations understand that everything can be transformed to become an artwork.
How and when did your passion for art start?
My passion for art began in high school, when I learned about geometric and analytical drawing. I always liked the subject of drawing, but it was precisely in 2014 in a literature class taught by the great master Dr. Almiro Lobo at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) at the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences (FLCS), that my mind started to spark and I then thought of creating a work of a Mozambican farmer who represents the subsistence of our country, called him Ras Happy. Since then, I have been creating several works using the tools that I have learned over time.
From where do you take your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from everything that surrounds me, from good things and even bad things, but my main source of inspiration is the social outlook of Mozambicans, there I can observe a sad or happy face and then put it on the canvas

How much of your country's culture/ way of living/ history is in your works?
Most of my works represent Mozambican culture, what it is and what it lives. Each work carries with it on its face the story of a people who have always fought for their well-being without giving up. They are our way of life. I have also created works that portray the history of some of the great foreign figures.
How do you choose the colors?
I never choose the colors, they come to me. I say this because when I collect the objects on the streets, they already come with the colors. So, I don't use paints; I just combine the main piece with other objects and imagine which colors would look appropriate in the work.
How travels influence your work?
Traveling has a positive influence because, in addition to being relaxing, it is important to explore other fields of inspiration, using local materials. The idea is to create a work according to the local materials in the place you are, which is why it has a positive influence.
What is the art equipment you can not separate from?
The main thing impossible to separate from is, of course, my mind. The other instruments are all materials that can be used in another way. For example, instead of glue I can use wire, if I don't tighten it with screws I use wires to hold the object and so we create.
Have you ever found obstacles in your work as an artist?
Thank God I haven’t had any difficulties that I have not been able to overcome because I have the full support of my family who strengthen me daily and also my friends who help to successfully publicize my works whether outside or inside the country.

Is there any message you want to give to the future artist generation?
For future generations, I would like to say that the art is a virtue that can start at a young age. If we start teaching our children about artistic culture from an early age, I believe we will have a much healthier and more balanced society. Young people need to embrace awareness and dive fearlessly into the teaching and learning of art and culture. Primary schools need to implement more in-depth cultural activities, encouraging reading and other work activities for a dignified mental development.
